Explorer Scouts are the 4th section of the Scout Movement.  Explorer Scouts are both Boys and Girls between the ages of 14-18.  Surrey Heath Explorers (Windlesham Unit) meet every week during school term time and occasionally during the summer.

We do a wide array activities, not just  traditional Scouting activities such as camping, hiking, climbing and other outdoor activities but we also go to the cinema, have BBQ’s and play sports (to name just a few!).  A number of Windlesham Explorers were members of other Scouting movements such as Scouts and Cubs but we also have a number that have never been involved in the movement before.  These individuals mainly have been introduced to Explorer Scouting friends and family.

Windlesham Explorers leader (ESL) is Kurt Neumann and we are always looking for new Explorers and Leaders or Helpers so feel free to contact him (via the Contact section of this website) for further details.

After having attended for a certain number of weeks, Explorers are invested into the Scout Family, which involves reciting the Scout Promise and Scout Law (both are below). After investiture Explorers are now eligible to wear the Explorer Uniform. The Surrey Heath Explorer scarf is shown above.  Explorers then work towards awards and activity badges. Many also help with other Scout Movement such as Cub to help them to gain there Young Leaders award.
